Week 33

Pineapple

Length

43.7 cm / 17.2 in

Weight

1918 g / 67.7 oz

Your baby's immune system is strengthening as maternal antibodies pass through the placenta in preparation for the outside world.

Development at Week 33

At 33 weeks, your baby's skull remains soft and flexible, made up of plates that have not yet fused, allowing it to compress during passage through the birth canal. The pupils can dilate and contract in response to light, and your baby may turn toward bright light sources. Most babies have settled into a head-down position by this point.

Next week

At week 34, your baby will be the size of a Cantaloupe.
