Development at Week 38

At 38 weeks, the vernix caseosa is disappearing as the skin matures, and your baby's nails may already extend beyond the fingertips. The vocal cords are fully developed and ready to produce that first cry, which helps to clear the lungs of fluid. Your body is producing colostrum, the first nutrient-rich milk your baby will receive.
