Umm Salamah رضي الله عنها

When life asks you to begin again

There are seasons in a woman’s life when the future seems to gather itself around a single hope: a home, a husband, a child, a place where the people she loves can finally remain together. Umm Salamah رضي الله عنها had already known what it meant to leave one place for another for the sake of faith, and when she prepared to leave Makkah for Madinah with Abu Salamah رضي الله عنه and their young son, the journey must have seemed like another difficult road towards something steadier. Instead, before that new life had even begun, the family was pulled apart.

Umm Salamah رضي الله عنها was left behind without the husband she had intended to travel beside and without the child she had been caring for, while the people she loved most were now beyond her reach in two different directions. The source describes her going out repeatedly and weeping over what had happened, returning to the grief of a family divided while she remained unable to put it back together.
